The 90’s were a time of change, the first super sized mobile phones went on sale, the world wide web began and the ‘Girl Power’ ruled, thanks to the Spice Girls. Another key milestone (?) was the complete overhaul of the brownie uniform, a uniform that hadn’t changed in 23 years. The long brown cotton dress with yellow cross-over tie became a thing of the past. In 1990 Jeff Banks put Brownies in culottes!
Now 25 years later culottes are once again back in fashion, although thankfully you don’t have to wear them with a brownie sash with badges on! But how do you wear culottes?
Dress Down your Culottes
In the past you might have had clothes you considered smart and those which were casual, now the lines are blurred. Suits are worn back with trainers, skirts with trainers and yes you guessed it …. culottes with trainers!
As a breastfeeding mum I often find I get stuck in a rut just wearing jeans and a jumper everyday, as you can’t really wear a dress. Culottes, though, are a great alternative to jeans. So swap your everyday jeans for culottes and wear them with an easy fitted crew neck jumper.
Or wrap up warm with a roll neck jumper and cocoon coat.
Or maybe keep it super casual with a Slogan Sweatshirt and Trainers.
