No it’s not a new Teletubby, the Upsie Belly is a pregnancy support belt. Ok, ok if you are male, squeamish or have no intention of ever having children you may wish to read a more heart warming post, so please click here. You see though externally pregnancy looks like this wonderful, beautiful thing, the reality is somewhat different. At moments it is undignified and decidedly unsexy as your body is changed in ways you never imagined.
Towards the end of my pregnancy I really struggled to walk. I’d perfected the pregnancy waddle. Various veins popped out in places you don’t want to know about, the left side of my pelvis swelled and I got sciatica in my legs. My midwife suggested I tried a support belt to hold up the bump. I was sceptical it would do much good. But amazingly, wearing Belly Bandit’s Upsie Belly much reduced both the swelling and sciatica. So, it was much easier to run after Daisy as she scooted off into the distance each day.
Incidentally, I’ve also found it very useful post birth, as part of the healing process. It comes with a heat / cooling pad (you can either microwave or freeze it) which you then pop in the pocket on the belt and put over your tummy. This has been wonderful as every time I feed I have period like pains, which is my uterus contracting back. That said I’m currently using the pack in my bra. Yes it’s 4am and my milk has come in. True to form, my boobs look like Pamela Anderson, are rock hard and impossible for Laurie to feed from. I’ve used the pack to help soften them so latching doesn’t hurt as much. I think Belly Bandit should make smaller versions of this pack that you can heat and pop in your bra, now that would be wonderful!
For post birth Belly Bandit have a whole range of wraps to help get your body back into shape. I’d love to try the B.F.F. Belly Bandit® which apparently helps you to get your original figure back, reduce stretch marks and support core muscles. For, if it works as well as the Upsie Belly then, I’m sold.
Please note Belly Bandit gifted the Upsie Belly to me, but all opinions are my own.
