Gone are the days of the LBD, “little black dress.” It used to be all you needed for a night out on the razzle. But these days there are just so many more interesting shapes around than just a dress. Take the jumpsuit for example. This Mothercare jersey jumpsuit has become my wardrobe staple since becoming pregnant, come rain of shine.
Quite simply, I love it because I can chase Daisy across the park in it, let her smear yoghurt all over it and then bundle it into the wash. But equally it holds it’s own at launch parties, press events and meetings. It’s also black which is slimming, essential when you have a bump the size of Pluto at #34weekspregnant. I wore it yesterday to a trade show and was told several times, “you don’t look that pregnant.” Exactly the response you need when you feel like an overinflated balloon.
Yes you could pair it with heels but being London, I always dress it down with white trainers. It’s also perfect for this crazed weather we’ve been having recently, it only needs to snow to make the four seasons complete. I’ve worn it on it’s own, with a T or sometimes even with a polo neck under it.

If you bumped into me in the street, that’s probably what I’d be wearing. I’ll be wearing it post birth too, as it is suitable for breastfeeding. I’m still trying to take a more sustainable approach to my clothes buying #lessismore, so you will see me in this outfit again. Surely that’s not a bad thing.
