The temptation for me, post Laurie, is to just show pictures of him and Daisy. Then, to go on some crash diet and emerge three months later looking amazing. But that’s not real life, or just not my life. I don’t have an army of nannies looking after my kids whilst I get back into shape. I’m just a normal mum trying to get through each day with two small children. Inevitably there’ll be days when entire pots of Ben & Jerry’s will be eaten just to ensure our family’s survival.
So you’ll just have to bear with me looking a little chubbier than normal. When I was buying maternity clothes, I did so thinking I’d only be in them for 6 months. The truth is so different. It’s two weeks since Laurie’s birth, and I could be accused of being 20 something weeks pregnant. The other day, in a poor attempt at humour, Dr. husband even asked me when Laurie’s twin was due. The cheek!
Simple classic dressing is my go to when I’m not feeling 100% confident about my body. These maternity clothes are from Next’s AW16 maternity collection. The trousers are wonderfully comfy and stretchy, a bit like leggings. But the similarity to leggings stops there. They are made from a substantial ponty fabric, which is formal in appearance and hides all unsightly lumps and bumps. I love a proper trouser worn back with white trainers and a Tee, as a great alternative to denim. A white shirt is, as I always say, a must have wardrobe staple. As a new mum, it’s very handy as it’s breastfeeding friendly. Essential. It also has 3% of elastane, so it’s super comfy over my non-baby bump. Because it is designed with a bump in mind, it is roomy so disguising my saggy belly.

Thanks Dorothy x
I am still wearing maternity clothing 5 months postpartum…. Real life right there, eating clean and exercising wherever possible but it is hard work all the same when juggling little ones and putting them first! You look great! Congrats! I also find H&M Mama clothing line is fab! X

Thanks for the encouragement Jem. I manage to eat well for the morning and then lose it when I hit about 3pm and I just want to crawl into a hole and sleep! I imagine I’ll still be in maternity clothes for a long while yet 🙂 x
You look fantastic! Gorgeous outfit.

Thanks so much Ruth x
I’m horrified at James ‘s poor taste in humour. I fear it’s reminiscent of his father!
