Sunshine, chocolate and friends, for me these are the three components of a good holiday. Normally I’d add in wine and sleep, but I’m pregnant and have a 22 month old, so enough said. After an entire year of living chocolate free, a bet with Dr. husband (don’t ask), I confess this year’s holiday did involve a complete chocolate binge. France has many good qualities, but the easy availability of Milka and pain au chocolate are definitely up there in my book.
Though individual family time on holiday is a must, we equally love being with good friends. This year our friends joined us for a week with their little boy Jonah who is a month younger than Daisy. Over an evening of vino (a sip for me) and cake baking, my friend and I decided communal living is the way forward. Sharing the cooking, entertaining and childcare meant we all actually got a break, and I managed to read three books, unheard of. Also, each couple got a romantic dinner date. Woo hoo!
Though the weather wasn’t as sunny as I’d hoped, for our last evening the sun shone beautifully. l toyed with the idea of dressing up, but then opted for ultimate comfort with my new Toms espadrilles. I love the tile print and silver stitching around the sole. I’m just hoping my feet don’t expand too much so I can continue wearing them. Good, well-fitting maternity jeans are also so comfy and these white jeans by Mamalicious from Mothercare are no exception. Now I’m normally nervous of white jeans, as the fabric can be skin-tight and revealing. But, thankfully Mamalicious’ fabric quality is really good so I don’t feel self-conscious at all. I love that the band goes over the bump, so there’s no chance of an unsightly belly button popping out. Believe it or not, my top is actually a dress from Zara. I’m hoping next year I’ll be wearing it on the beach as a dress rather than over jeans as a tunic.
Our friends got a little insight into the world of n4mummy as I posed by the pool. Unsurprisingly the evening ended with both kiddies naked in the pool shrieking with delight. I have photos, but they are for our eyes only.
