Something worth fighting over | Micro Scooters

There are few things that can reduce a group of children to tears in a matter of minutes. Fighting over a Scooter is one of them. Every time I take Daisy to our local park, I secretly pray that no one has their scooter with them otherwise an inevitable fight will occur. I know parents that have bought them just to stop themselves sounding like a screaming banshee, “share, share” and “No! Don’t snatch!”

But did you know that Micro Scooters now do scooters for adults? I learnt this fact whilst on holiday recently. A friend, who is also a mama, succumbed to buying a scooter for her 22 month old to stop him stealing everyone else’s, but she also bought one for herself. Being a practical soul and GP, she saw it as a great way to whizz around London doing home appointments. Recently Micro-Scooters kindly gave Daisy and myself a scooter each, and despite being #30weekspregnant, I was pretty excited at finding out what all the fuss is about.

This weekend we had a family scooter trip to the park. Unsurprisingly Daisy was over the moon at the prospect of a whole morning scooting. Thankfully Micro Scooters now do their Mini Micro Deluxe with an adjustable handlebar so it’s suitable for aged 2-5 years, perfect for Daisy. Dr. Husband spent lots of time teaching her to steer, and it was amazing how quickly she was able to go a distance without our help. Freedom!

I had no idea just how much fun it would be. You only need a slight hill and you whizz down it at a rate of knots. It goes really fast, so I had to be careful that I didn’t get over enthusiastic and fall off. At the moment I’m not exactly an exercise queen, (pregnancy yoga and pilates really don’t count), but this was actually a great way for me to exercise. I could really feel my stomach, leg and bum muscles working as I attempted to steer and keep my balance. At first I couldn’t work out how to use the break, which is on the back wheel, but actually it came pretty naturally after a few minutes ride.

I specifically choose the Micro Flex Deluxe Scooter, because it’s matt black. I love monochrome and black goes with every outfit. But I’m slightly regretting this decision as Dr. Husband managed to wheedle his way into using it and has already started a few conversations with, “Well if I were to go on the scooter…” The handle bar is very easily adjustable too which means he can easily borrow it. Living in a small London flat, I am also grateful that it completely folds away, and has a handy kickstand so you don’t have to find something to lean it against. Needless to say, I predict soon it’ll be the adults scraping over scooters in the playground.

Thanks Abbie, the added benefit of toned bums and thighs is a winner for me. I mean realistically, despite our best efforts, how often do we get to the gym? x
