If you’ve never attended a Mother’s Meeting you probably want to. For those of you who have no idea what I am talking about, Mother’s Meetings are for mums who don’t just want to talk about nappies and nipple cream. They are for creative mums who are interested in the latest trends in fashion, art and culture. Founded by the lovely Jenny Scott, they meet regularly for professionally lead workshops to hear guest speakers and to talk about everything from practical parenting tips to the latest Soho hotspot.
This week I attended my first Mother’s Meeting, held at Liberty’s iconic store. The occasion? To get a sneak preview of Mamas and Papas‘ new collaboration with Liberty which launches in just a few days. It was a wonderful morning, with plenty of distractions to keep the little ones happy. Prosecco and nibbles flowed, and face-painting, colouring in, and nail art were just some of the activities on offer. I particularly enjoyed having a garland of flowers made for me by the The Flower Appreciation Society to wear as a headband; several turned heads as I wandered down Oxford Street afterwards!
There is something about a Liberty print that is so beautiful- all the prints are inherently English, and though many of the patterns are vintage, they still feel very contemporary. The collection consists of fashion, interiors and strollers. There are wonderful items for a nursery: a rag doll wearing a Liberty print dress, a printed vintage rocking horse and some adorable star cushions are just a few of the highlights. However, in my experience these items are probably more for our benefit than any child’s, as more often than not there is a closer correlation between the plastic vulgarity of an item and Daisy’s love for it rather than its beauty.
The clothes come in sizes 0-4 yrs old and of course there were plenty of items I would quite happily dress Daisy in. I particularly liked the smocked dress, with matching bloomers or the fru fru skirt dress. If I had a little boy the bow tie set is irresistible. And the prices, I hear you say? Well the good news is that prices are cheaper than a normal Liberty children’swear. But at £45 for the dress and bloomers, pictured below, unless money is no object these aren’t everyday clothes. They’re your child’s Sunday best, if such an idea still exists, or to be worn to a party or wedding. Being the geek I am, I checked the washcare and they are all chuck in the wash, child friendly- which in my view is absolutely essential.
The Mamas and Papas and Liberty collection launches on 7th September.
Love the Wiltshire blouse and Jean set.

I know it’s so so sweet. I think Daisy might get a little present for Christmas!
