As you may have guessed from the title, I am extraordinarily late with this week’s pregnancy diary. So late in fact that I’ve skipped #25weeks and am now #26weekspregnant. I’m hoping you lead far too busy a life to notice, and wouldn’t give a hoot if you had.
My excuse is that terrible London curse of busyness. A sick child, broken down washing machine and a last minute decision to redo our bathroom, whilst on holiday, all contributed. The fact that we had water leaking into the flat below increased the urgency. So before we went away I had to drag a vomiting Daisy around bathroom stores, choosing all the components at breakneck speed. There was no Pinterest or mood board, just a vague hope that it’ll somehow look ok, and the workmen won’t run off with our money. All that feels a distant memory as I sit in the sun in la Charente, a beautiful part of Southern France. Lizards scuttle past and bees hum in the lavender beside me. With Daisy fast asleep it’s a picture of complete calm.
I’m reflecting that summer is a great time to be pregnant, as jersey summer dresses are both stretchy and forgiving in just the right places. This black dress from Cos isn’t a maternity item, just its oversized shape allows for a growing bump. I’ve added some jewellery from Rococo Jewels. Jewellery and accessories are the one thing you can buy whilst pregnant that will still fit you post pregnancy, so it’s worth investing in. Just steer clear of rings, because yes your fingers get fat too. Rococo Jewels have some amazing ear jackets and cuffs. On first view ear cuffs can look a little scary, but once you’ve done your hair you can decide how much of the jewel to reveal and it’s nice to have a focal point that isn’t a baby bump. They also actually only require you have one piercing as the top has a clip that grips the ear.
I wear an ear jacket every day. You generally buy them in pairs, but I like to mix and match them with other earings, hence the cuff and ear jacket you see pictured. I love the mix of crystals and stars on this ear jacket. I’ve also gone for a gold arm cuff, I really like the clean minimal lines and the fact it adds a bit of interest to a plain black outfit.
