Jumpers in summer?! You are mad, I hear you say. Despite the beautiful weather we’ve been having recently, I’ve still been reaching for a knit each evening. So much so, I’ve decided it a summer jumper should be a wardrobe staple. But that said I never feel like wearing my heavy weight autumnal versions. Instead, I’ve been opting for this lightweight cotton/cashmere jumper from Ille De Cocos. And I thought you might be interested to see how I’ve been styling it.

The Fantasy Bow Knit | Ille De Cocos

Let’s start with the jumper itself, the Fantasy Bow Knit. It’s made from 95/5 cotton/cashmere so 100% natural yarns. It has a really pretty lace stitch throughout and is finished with a black silk chiffon bow at the back. Of all the jumpers in my wardrobe it is probably one of the most dressy, and makes a good substitute for a blouse. Naturally I chuck it on with my mum jeans, but I’d thought you’d be interested in some of the more interesting ways I’ve been wearing it.

A summer knit with shorts

For early mornings and evenings of seriously hot days, I’ve been chucking it on with my one and only pair of shorts. You see I’ve reached the age where I’ll only wear shorts if it is really necessary, plus even with my Green People organic fake tan my legs look pasty white :(. Anyway, back to the shorts, they’re white hand embroidered shorts from ethical resort brand Dilli Grey and are seriously comfy with an elasticated waistband. I love the navy & white mix to this outfit as it feels a little nautical. I‘ve added gold espadrilles and a straw shopper that I bought in a French market last summer.

A summer knit with a statement skirt

Most knitwear is quite casual, but because of the bow detail at the back and pretty lace stitch this jumper can actually look pretty smart. I’ve loved wearing it with a statement pleated skirt for a more dressed up look. Though you will note that I’ve still got my trusty white trainers on. I’ve also paired it with the bag of the summer, a circular straw bag from Made by Wave.

A summer knit with a pinafore dress

For slightly cooler days I’ve been wearing it back with my pinafore dress from maternity friendly brand Clary and Peg. You may well recognise it as this one of the dresses I lived in whilst pregnant with Laurie. I like the way you can see the bow peeping over the top of the pinafore and it makes a welcome change from wearing a typical stripe top with the dress. Oh, and just to clarify I am not pregnant again!

About Ille De Cocos

Ille De Cocos is an independent knitwear brand who I first discovered at the sustainable pop up store A Luxe Story. I fell in love with their good style and gorgeous yarns at great price points. During my ten years as a knitwear buyer I witnessed the highstreet moving away from using natural yarns. Instead, increasingly adding acrylic and nylon mixes to keep costs down and profits high. Yet Ille De Cocos haven’t done this. Founder Deola Charles is a complete purist when it comes to the yarns she uses and selects only the very best natural yarns that feel beautiful against the skin. With years of experience in the fashion industry she has chosen her suppliers with care and only works with those that comply with independent audits for environmental protection, consumer safety and animal welfare.
