Apologies for the radio silence, here in N4 our family has been under the attack of the lurgy. Daisy has had two bouts of sickness, and last week I was struck down with flu. But we’re back and well now, thank you.
Now I don’t know how bedside conversations go in your household? But as I’m getting ready for bed and putting on my night creams the cynic, Dr. Husband, always has something to say about it. Ever the sceptic, he believes we are all brain washed into spending money on creams that make no difference to our complexions. Sound familiar?
Before Christmas I had the chance to try Herbalife’s Skincare, thanks to Kathryn Gibbs a Herbalife Independent Distributer. I was pretty excited about it as the reviews on facebook are amazing, “goodbye angry red skin”, “skin tone more even”, “pores reduced” and “leaving the house make up free without any worries” (something I never do). Plus Olivia Cox, beauty blogger and TV presenter has just been announced as the new face of Herbalife SKIN.
Goodbye Free Radicals
The products are packed full of wonderful goodness for your skin, ingredients such as Vitamin B3, C&E, Aloe Vera and a whole host of natural oils and not a paraben in sight. Importantly, Vitamin C&E act as antioxidants, which help fight against those dastardly free radicals, to give younger looking skin. But, how were they on my skin?
#MintMaskMonday
Without a doubt my favourite product was the Purifying Mint Clay Mask, which is designed to tone, remove dirt and excess oil. Kathryn introduced me to the idea of #MintMaskMonday. So, without fail each Monday evening, after Daisy was in bed, I’d sit down on the sofa Mint mask on and read. Doesn’t sound revolutionary, but it takes a lot to make me stop. Plus I loved the fresh, clean feel of my skin, post mask, and the added benefit of reduced pore size.
Cleansers?
Herbalife has different cleansers for your skin type. I have normal/dry skin so I used the Soothing Aloe Cleanser. After 7 days I found that though my skin tone was definitely more even and less red, I had developed several large spots. Kathryn attributed them to my skin detoxing.
Wrinkles
The anti-aging products have been tested in a clinical trial of 30 people. The findings being that there is a diminished appearance of fine lines and wrinkles in just 7 days. Now, I’d love to tell you that my skin looked 10 years younger, but clearly only a face lift will do that. But my there was definitely a reduction in pore size, which gave my skin a more even tone. I found the Firming Eye Gel lovely in the mornings to banish unsightly puffiness, and the Instant Reveal Berry Scrub a wonderful exfoliator, to brighten my skin. All the above had the effect of making me look healthier and probably younger.
But what I enjoyed most was taking time for myself with this skincare regime. Rather than rushing about sorting the house pre bed, when using Herbalife Skin I stopped earlier and gave myself a little down time. This in turn helped me sleep better. As we all know nighttime is when your skin cells renew, so for once I was actually giving products a chance to work.
