Have the wedding invitations started dropping through your door yet? Thankfully we’re past that truly manic wedding stage, where all our friends were getting married. At one point we had as many as eleven weddings in one year, two of which weren’t in the UK, expensive. This year we have a much more leisurely five, and Dr. Husband and I see them as dates, and enjoy a Daisy free day. So with the main hazard for spillage removed, I can plan my outfits and enjoy not being limited to jersey and denim.
Now I don’t advocate buying a new dress for each wedding, instead I like to buy one beautiful outfit for the year, and then mix and match with my previous year’s dresses. Admittedly, as I’m pregnant this might be a challenge with my ever-changing body.
This year, I’ve been bowled over by Beautiful Soul London’s gorgeous Spring/Summer collection. As I’ve mentioned before florals are key this season, and I love the way you can mix and match their prints. If your brain is anything like mine and you need to refresh on the trends for this summer, then please feel free to click here. Beautiful Soul London also has a couple of gorgeous lace dresses, my favourite being the dress in white with just a hint of mint. So if you’re happy to risk offending the bride, then this is the dress for you.
As you can see, the dresses are pretty, timeless and classic, but somehow still manage to be current. From a transparency perspective we can relax, because it is key to their business model, and all garments are proudly made here in the UK. Designer Nicola’s aim is to be sustainable and where possible adhere to a zero waste policy, so the fabrics used are either fairtrade, organic, local, or end-of-line fabrics which would otherwise have been sent to landfill.
The dresses are expensive, from £310, which is reflected in the workmanship, sustainability and the fact that the printed garments are made from 100% silk with silk lining, sheer decadence. But keep an eye out on their Instagram @beautiful_soulxx as they often have flash sales.
