A day in the life of n4mummy | dot to dot

Dot to Dot

This maybe totally over indulgent, but as so many of you, ask me what I get up to on a day to day basis, I thought I should write a post about it. So here goes. One day in the life of n4mummy – blogger/mummy/person.

Dot to Dot

As you know, I love to introduce you to new brands. And the best place to discover them is at a kidswear trade show called Dot to Dot. Held binannually at the uber cool Vinyl Factory in Soho, it’s curated to showcase the best of independent childrenswear design. It’s my kinda place.

Dot to Dot

Laurie isn’t yet in nursery, therefore anywhere I go he goes too. So last week off we toddled, buggy laden with everything except the kitchen sink, to Dot to Dot. Everything that was, except some calpol. This turned out to be a mistake. For Laurie was teething, and my usually well behaved, charming little man, turned into a screaming red ball of furry.

Thankfully people are incredibly kind, and his sad little face was a conversation starter. Anyway, here are some of the exciting new brands I discovered:

Wee Gallery

Wee Gallery specialise in seriously cool monochrome books, art cards, décor, prints, organic cushions and other items to keep your little one entertained. Smart art for little minds. Perfect for design savvy parents, but there is also an entire science behind it with their use of black & white and geometric shapes. Laurie loved their colour me book, that when dipped in water changes colour.

Please excuse my slight bias towards homeware/toys, but we’re in the process of doing up Daisy and Laurie’s room, so it’s on my brain. Ana-moly is a contemporary lifestyle brand with beautiful conversation prints that they’ve put onto wallpaper, fabrics and other children’s homeware items. All their wallpaper is PEFC certified, meaning it’s made from sustainable forests.

Claude & Co

I was very excited to see a brand new range of unisex kids clothes without monochrome! Welcome to Claude & Co! Fun, individual, clothing designed to be worn, loved and passed on. I strongly advise you check them out.

Dotty Dungarees

Dungaree loving friends Alice and George, set up Dotty Dungarees after they struggled to find the perfect pair of dungarees for their children. With six kids between them, their product has been rigorously tested. Straps can be tweaked, trouser lengths rolled up or down and garments passed onto siblings. Seriously practical, stylish and nostalgic.

Etta Loves

Etta Loves is a genius new concept. It’s a range of sensory muslins designed to support your baby’s eye development. Mum Jennifer has worked closely with an orthoptist to create patterns which enchance a baby’s visual and cognitive development. Basically they’re muslins for the design conscious mum, that are educational too.

The Bonnie Mob

Living on the wild side, 12 years ago Tracey Samuel founded The Bonnie Mob after the birth of her daughter Alice-Bee. Though not a new brand, I had to include her in my list, for her incredible knits, cute prints, and playful design. Oh and her commitment to ethical and sustainable production. The ex-knitwear buyer, geek, in me, loves the fact that she used to design for Sonia Rykiel. SS18 is currently held under lock and key, so here’s a taster of AW17 that is just about to launch.

And finally I just wanted to mention organic clothing brand CarlijnQ who are also keeping SS18 in secret. However, I’ll be introducing you to their AW17 range here very soon.

So those were the potted highlights of my day. I left with my professionalism in tatters, thanks Laurie, but excited at what the next 6 months of n4mummy will bring.
