5 Things to love | Green People’s Make Up

I’ve always been a fusspot when it comes to what I’ll put on my face. Years of having eczema means I stay well clear of cheap make-up that irritates the skin. So, I’m always on the hunt for make-up that lasts and doesn’t bring me out in a rash. Essential really.

Organic/Natural & Microbead Free

Recently I tried Green People’s organic and natural range. I particularly wanted to try their microbead free mascara. Microbeads are tiny particles of plastic that are used in the most surprising of products including cosmetics, toothpaste and face wash. The problem is that they are so small, so they cannot be filtered by our sewage systems. The result is that they pollute our oceans and end up in the bellies of marine life. If you eat fish you may inadvertently digest some yourself. Theresa May has pledged to ban microbeads in cosmetics and cleaning products by 2017. All of Green People’s organic make-up is microbead free.

The mascara got a big tick for not shedding during the day and putting an even coat onto my eyelashes, there were no big clumps. It comes in black and black/brown and whilst it is a volumising mascara, it isn’t as voluminous as some I’ve tried.

Moisturising Lip Crayon

Their lip crayon’s contain shea butter which makes them very moisturising. On me, lipstick tends to bleed, and if I wear it every day my lips start to crack. I haven’t found this to be the case with Green People’s lip crayons.

Great lasting colour

I’ve been using the Praline and Blossom lip crayons. Both are really lovely neutrals, the blossom being a floral nude/pink and the praline, earthy in tone.

Initially I was concerned the blossom wouldn’t last very long as it looks so pale in pictures. But I was proven wrong, used with the Enriching Lip Primer both colours stayed put. The downside is that they only do x 3 colours and they don’t have a true red which is an essential to any make up bag.

Pretty Blusher

As always, I’ve saved the best for last, the blusher. I’m naturally pale, an English rose if we’re being polite. Blusher is something I wear everyday, but getting the colour right is a mind field. Bronzers often look like fake tan gone wrong, and if a blusher is too pink, people start singing, “I’m a Barbie Girl.” So getting the tone right is essential. I love this blusher because it is the right mix of pink and bronze and gives a healthy glow. It also lasts longer than my Laura Mercier blusher that I normally use.

Have you tried any organic make up? What did you think?

I used green people make up on m for her ballet show because I was concerned that anything else might irritate her skin and it was great for her
